Colourful Winter Wedding Photography at Holmes Mill

Kellie and Mike chose to have their drinks reception in the luxurious Bar and Grill at Holmes Mill - a welcome respite from the weather warning!

In February, Kellie and Mike threw the big celebration following their intimate Manchester city elopement back in November. True to form, the weather brought its own drama with a yellow wind warning - but nothing was stopping this lot.

They picked Holmes Mill in Clitheroe for their winter wedding - an industrial-luxe dream of a venue with restored mill vibes and the brilliant Bowland Brewery on site. What more could you want from a wedding venue?

I joined them at the on-site Spinning Block Hotel to capture the morning buzz - wedding prep, laughs, and tales of the setup chaos from the day before (forget an after party, the before party was the place to be).

Thankfully, it was only a short, rainy stroll to the Cotton Room for their ceremony. Hazel the Rainbow Celebrant was already there, ready to deliver a heartfelt and beautifully personal ceremony. With live music from Kellie’s brother and sister-in-law, it felt truly authentic: all heart, no fluff.

Afterwards, we braved the gale-force winds for a confetti toss down the alley. Everything was going smoothly until a rogue gust launched a litter bin into my shins. Absolutely worth it for their reactions, but completely unexpected!

There was also a surprise visit from their gorgeous Rottweiler, Goldie, who got her moment in front of the camera before the excitement got the better of her.

The rest of the day was pure mayhem, in the best way. Groomsmen flying through the air for the bouquet, guests belting out Tenacious D during the wedding breakfast, a first dance serenaded by the bridesmaids, and bubble guns everywhere. Unfiltered joy from start to finish.

Winter weddings don’t have to be moody or muted - this one was packed with colour, laughter, and unapologetic personality.
